Define what counts as unacceptable residue
Record whether the complaint is loose fibres, small pills, threads from an edge or a general streak that may be cleaner residue. Note the surface, lighting, wet or dry use, and whether the cloth had been washed. Photographs are more useful when the area and observation conditions are consistent.
A label such as lint-free needs an agreed meaning. It should not silently become a promise of zero visible particles on every finish, under every cleaning solution and after unlimited washing.
Compare the face and edge without guessing the root cause
Inspect the cloth face, corners, seams and any attached label. If the visible material appears near a frayed edge, record that observation; it is a lead to investigate, not proof that the entire fabric is defective. Ask the supplier to inspect the corresponding batch and retained reference.
Do not diagnose poor splitting from a single photograph of residue. Composition, yarn, finishing and handling information may be needed. A supplier should connect a proposed correction to the selected item and observed defect rather than simply substituting a higher GSM cloth.
Use a repeatable buyer screening routine
An example screening plan is to compare three separately labelled samples of each candidate code on clean glass or the actual target finish. Set the same number of passes, area, water or cleaner and wiping method in advance. Include a check of the surface before using the cloth.
Repeat with samples washed according to the proposed instructions, recording detergent, temperature, drying and cycle count. Choose the number of samples and acceptance rule for the purchase risk; three samples is an example, not a recognised certification plan or SINOCLEAN’s published laboratory standard.
Keep the comparison relevant to the product
SM21033 is listed as a glass cloth, while SM21016 is a weft-knitted coral fleece. Both list 80/20 polyester/polyamide, 300 GSM and 30 × 30 cm, but their descriptions differ. They can be requested for a controlled comparison; no lint ranking is established by the catalogue.
If a surface is delicate or coated, agree compatibility and handling before conducting the trial. A pass on ordinary glass is not automatically an approval for vehicle paint, optical coatings or all polished finishes.
Turn the observations into an approval record
Keep the sample code, batch reference, preparation, surface photographs, observed particles and final decision together. Where particle counts are needed, define the area, observation method, blank surface check and acceptance limit before recording results.
Send the supplier the actual evidence and request a response covering the likely source, corrective action and a new representative sample. Edge changes, different finishing or a different construction should be confirmed on the revised product. Do not claim a treatment or root cause that the investigation has not established.
How to act on the observations
If particles are present on the clean surface before wiping, correct the surface preparation and repeat the screen. If loose threads are localised at an edge, photograph the edge and compare the retained sample. If new samples appear acceptable but the washed samples differ, review the recorded wash routine and ask the supplier to investigate the change.
Keep suspected causes separate from confirmed findings. A useful defect report says which sample, surface and preparation produced the visible material, includes photographs and asks for a representative replacement sample. It should not label the entire product family as defective or infer an unverified factory process from the observation.

Catalogue references and scope
The item specifications cited in this guide come from the linked SINOCLEAN catalogue entries. They identify the proposed products; they are not independent performance results. Sample routines and calculation examples are buyer guidance, not reports of completed factory or laboratory tests. Confirm the final specification and supporting evidence with the quotation.
