Why microfiber needs its own wash routine
Microfiber cloths and towels are usually made from polyester and polyamide blends; SINOCLEAN catalogue items are listed in blends such as 80/20 and 81/19. Their cleaning and drying performance depends on fine fibres and open spaces in the fabric. Residues from softener, heavy detergent or lint from cotton laundry can fill those spaces. That is why most care instructions treat microfiber differently from ordinary towels.
This guide summarises commonly published care practice. It is not a laboratory method and does not claim a tested number of wash cycles for any SINOCLEAN item.
How to wash microfiber towels in 6 steps
- Step 1. Sort: separate microfiber from cotton and other lint-shedding laundry; keep heavily soiled car or kitchen towels apart from glass cloths.
- Step 2. Shake out or rinse loose grit before washing.
- Step 3. Wash with a mild liquid detergent; do not add fabric softener or chlorine bleach.
- Step 4. Use a warm rather than hot setting; follow the temperature on the item’s care label.
- Step 5. Rinse well so detergent residue does not remain in the fibres.
- Step 6. Air dry, or tumble dry on low or no heat; avoid ironing.
| Stage | Common practice | Avoid |
|---|---|---|
| Sorting | Wash microfiber with microfiber | Cotton, fleece or other lint-shedding items in the same load |
| Detergent | Mild liquid detergent, measured dose | Fabric softener, chlorine bleach, overdosing |
| Temperature | Warm, or as printed on the care label | Hot cycles not approved for the item |
| Drying | Air dry or low / no heat tumble | High heat, ironing, drying beside heaters |
| Storage | Clean, dry, closed container | Storing damp or with dusty tools |
Car drying towels and detailing cloths
Car drying towels are often heavier than household cloths; SINOCLEAN’s microfiber car cloths are listed from 260 to 600 GSM. Heavy, plush or twisted-loop constructions hold more water and grit, so rinse them well and let them dry fully before storage. Keep towels used on wheels or engine areas out of the load used for paint and glass.
What a private-label buyer should put on the care label
For a retail or distributor programme, the wash routine is part of the product specification. Agree the wording before mass production and check it on samples:
- Wash temperature and whether machine or hand wash is recommended.
- Instructions on softener, bleach and tumble drying.
- Whether colours should be washed separately (see the colourfastness guide).
- Language versions required by the destination market.
If shrinkage or shape after washing matters, compare dimensions before and after the agreed routine, as described in the prewash and dimensional stability guide.
